We are looking for a visionary, highly motivated, and effective programme lead with profound knowledge of the construction sector to join Circle Economy in Amsterdam. Circle Economy is a social enterprise with an international team that develops practical and scalable insights, tools and programmes to accelerate the adoption of the circular economy. We are growing rapidly both in the Netherlands and around the world through strategic partnerships with governments, cities, and businesses.

 

Circle Built Environment Programme

We believe a multi-stakeholder approach is key to driving change and implementing the circular economy in the built environment.

We started the Circle Built Environment Programme in spring 2017 with the ambition to create the right conditions for the sector to transition to circular practices, and are now looking to take our efforts to the next level with the help of a visionary programme lead who can support us in our ambition for the practical and scalable implementation of the circular economy.

 

We see opportunities for:

  • Setting up practical and scalable pilot projects with single and/or coalitions of businesses

  • Engaging frontrunning businesses - from start-ups to established corporates - in the programme

  • Developing and sharing new knowledge, e.g. through communities of practice

  • Driving the further development and shaping of the Built Programme

  • Scaling our activities through a wide international network of cities and partner organisations

  • Creating impact both in The Netherlands and at the global level

We are looking for someone who has experience, competence, and depth of knowledge in the industry, and can translate a bold vision into an actionable plan for the industry.

Requirements

Who you are

  • You have a proven track record in the coordination of project teams, strategy development, business development, team management, relationship management and project delivery.

  • You have 5+ years working experience in built environment and construction sector where you have established a broad network of key stakeholders and individuals - preferably beyond The Netherlands - and acquired insights into key issues in transitioning to sustainable practices in the sector.

  • You are comfortable with building upon relationships with existing partners and stakeholders, involving them in the development of the programme, as well as identifying and building relationships with new partners in the construction industry to scale up and expand the usage of different tools and offerings being developed by the programme.

  • You have an active interest in sustainability and the circular economy and would love to contribute your skills and knowledge to accelerate the transition towards a sustainable future.

In terms of skills and experience:

  • You have experience in programme and business development; identifying and initiating new projects, building quality content, and acquiring new members.

  • You have project management skills; coordinating internal and external teams, planning project resources.

  • You have sales and business development skills and know how to build and manage relationships with multiple stakeholders

  • You have a hands-on work mentality: it’s not only about management, you get things done, together with the rest of team

  • You have strong English report writing skills  

  • You are a self-starter (proactive and independent) that knows how to deal with deadlines

  • You are a quick learner and able to deal with unexpected new situations

  • You are fluent in both Dutch and English

Your role in our team

You will play an important role in developing the Circle Built Environment Programme and will work closely with other teams to effectively scale it up. You will work closely together with the current programme manager. You will have the opportunity to build a dedicated team over time.

Examples of the activities and tasks you will be required to perform are:

  • Driving the strategic development of the Built Environment Programme

  • Managing and being accountable for a healthy, sustainably growing programme budget

  • Lead a growing and passionate team

  • Actively pursuing and acquiring core support and project funding

  • Contributing to the gathering of insights and analysing data for the programme and individual projects

  • Contributing to the development of new sector knowledge and exploring the potential for innovative tools and services

  • Setting up and managing multi-stakeholder dialogues with the aim of initiating pilot projects within the Circle Built Environment Programme

  • Handling existing construction accounts and actively acquiring new members.

This is a full-time role (40 hours per week) for at least 6 months. Salary is competitive, keeping in mind we are a social enterprise. EU work authorisation is required for this role.
