Job description

You will join the Circle Economy team as a junior analyst in the Cities Portfolio team. You have 1-3 years relevant works experience with a background in urban sustainability, and an understanding of the circular economy and systems thinking, you are a critical thinker who can apply this background in working with city stakeholders to identify circular opportunities. You will bring strong content expertise, communication, and execution skills to the team, working to deliver high quality and actionable insights to cities around the world. Detail orientated, you will work on a project basis, while always keeping oversight of the bigger picture.

In this role you will have the opportunity to channel your expertise and knowledge into practical and scalable solutions that will directly support cities in moving toward a circular economy. You will also be responsible for maintaining and building strong relationships with our clients and partners.

For this role, we are offering an initial 1-year contract based on full time employment, which may be extended depending on the performance of the job holder and funding opportunities. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Project execution: Effectively managing your time against the projects allocations, overviewing the full scope of your deliverables and coordinating well with other members of the project team. Ensure that your deliverables are submitted on-time, with high quality. Always have an overview of the budget and planning.
  • Research and analysis: Conduct necessary research and data analysis, design business models, pilot projects and systems-level solutions, interpret and process data to be used effectively in projects. Create practical and scalable solutions that will directly support cities in moving toward a circular economy. Provide the team and clients with analysis and research outputs, distilling down to the key takeaways.
  • Client engagement: Maintain strong relationships with our international clients and partners. Ensure client/cities satisfaction throughout the projects.
  • Communication: Provide clear narratives in written reports or in presentation. Extract key insights and tailor the messages communicated to different audiences. Support the hosting and facilitation of professional workshops and multi-stakeholder events (both in the Netherlands and internationally).

 

Skills and Competencies

  • You have between 1-3 years of work experience in the field of sustainability consulting, or project management in the sustainability field
  • You are a high achiever with a very strong focus on achieving set targets and objectives
  • You are an expert on the circular economy and urban sustainability topics and enjoy putting your theoretical knowledge into practice
  • You are a natural systems thinker who loves to explore problems from a holistic perspective, follow innovation processes to generate insights, and translate those insights into compelling solutions
  • You have a relevant academic degree such as industrial ecology, urban environmental management, environmental science, sustainability innovation & business, environmental economics, or matching practical experience
  • You are analytical and detail oriented and are fully capable of navigating data to pull out key insights
  • You are confident and flexible with experience working in interdisciplinary teams
  • You are an excellent verbal and written communicator in English, with the ability to develop clear narratives out of complex topics.
  • You have experience in liaising with government organisations, NGOs, corporations, etc. and can speak all ‘languages’
  • Experience with impact assessment (ie. LCA) and material flow analysis is preferred
