Fundraising & your role in the Circle Economy team

Circle Economy is expanding its fundraising team with a Grant and Fundraising Officer to manage our fundraising efforts specifically around the areas of proposal and pre-proposal writing, grant management, project tracking, oversight and internal communications. Circle Economy relies on the collaboration with trusts and foundations to pursue impact at scale, and therefore requires resources to expand and manage these relationships. This role works closely with the Fundraising and Partnerships Manager, and the different programmes' teams, in helping them design and write proposals and fundraising materials, and ensure the appropriate administration and management of grants. 

Who you are

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and organised individual to join our Fundraising Team as our Grant and Fundraising Officer. You are someone who wants to make a difference, has experience in fundraising, proposal writing and grant management. Excellent writing skills in English are a must. Highly developed time management and organisational skills. Prior experience in successfully raising funds and delivering proposals between EUR 50,000 to EUR 5 million. You have successfully managed the execution and delivery of a number of grants working in integrated teams. You have experience in fundraising in the Netherlands, Europe, and in Asia-Pacific and/or North America. You are extremely well organised and enjoy bringing a high level of precision and fine tuning to the work of different teams. You feel comfortable managing multiple projects at the same time. You are able to prioritise work and you perform well under pressure. You are reliable and driven by a spirit of collaboration, constantly challenging yourself and others to innovate, while bringing more quality to execution and delivery.

Requirements

Your duties

You will execute the following tasks:


Contribute to securing new grant funding to meet organisational priorities 

  • Identify and research funding opportunities in the Netherlands, Europe and beyond;
  • Draft and write quality funding proposals, concept notes and project frameworks focusing on one or more Circle Economy's focus areas within given deadlines and fitting the specific donor requirements;
  • Compile accurate reports, summaries, queries as needed by the line manager and the Senior Management Team.

Contribute to effective grant and donor management

  • Monitor, write and submit required project and financial reports to Circle Economy's funders in a timely manner, working in consultation with the project and finance teams;
  • Oversee compliance with donor requirements and ensure any deviations are communicated to internal stakeholders for appropriate mitigation;
  • Support internal stakeholder leads (incl. the CEO, other members of the SMT and Fundraising & Partnerships Manager) to effectively manage donor relationships for which they are responsible, including drafting and writing meeting briefings;
  • Maintain appropriate donor records (on Insightly as well as our internal files), including contribution agreements, MoUs, instalment requests, meeting notes, and communication records ; 
  • Support the development and implementation of systems, processes and practices necessary to ensure that we deliver quality management to our funding partners 

Coordinate fundraising communications internally 

  • Work with relevant members of the Marketing & Communications team to develop fundraising and other materials (e.g. 1-2 pagers, powerpoints, press releases, leaflets) for use by a variety of internal stakeholders when engaging with donors and to fulfil partnership communication requirements;

  • Support the fundraising team with provision of accurate and timely programmatic information and statistics and other materials in a variety of formats 

Skills and Competences

Required Skills and Background [Essential] 

  • You have relevant working experience (a minimum of 2 years) in fundraising, project management, proposal writing, and/or grant management or similar role;

  • You have thorough knowledge of the philanthropic sector and grant-making bodies in Europe and/or the US, specifically in the fields of environment and society;

  • You have a good understanding of effective trust and foundation fundraising techniques, sound research and analytical skills with a meticulous eye for detail and experience of achieving challenging targets

  • Track record of securing funding

  • Proven ability to develop and implement successful processes 

  • You have a good understanding of programme development, logical frameworks and theories of change. 

  • Proven ability to develop and implement successful processes 

  • You are a creative person who can learn fast and envision future plans

  • You are fluent in English and you have native or near native English writing proficiency

  • You love working in a multicultural team and collaborating with different people on different projects

A big plus but not a must 

  • Experience in the field of sustainability or circular economy 

  • Knowledge of Dutch and any other language

This is a 32 to 40 hours per week role for an initial period of 12 months.
