Digital Product Designer

Job description

Circle Economy's Design team is looking for a product designer who wants to create a positive impact on the world. Are you the one?

Who we are:

We're an international team of 50 people working to accelerate the adoption of the circular economy, and we’re scaling up.

We leverage the power of digital products to create impact at scale. Our products need to turn frameworks, data and content into simple, beautiful and most importantly valuable solutions.

Designers have a big influence on our products - from the way they look, to how they work and what features get built.

Our digital work is not yet reflected on our website, as we currently launch our products through closed partnerships. Here's a preview:

What you will be doing:

Our work takes us to diverse places, as we work with businesses, cities and national governments. As our fifth designer, you will report to and work closely with our UX lead to achieve the following:

  • Work with stakeholders to understand requirements, and provide appropriate and inspiring solutions

  • Explore new features and product ideas from scratch

  • Assess user needs from research, then design wireframes and visual design accordingly

  • Create realistic prototypes and validate designs through user testing

  • Collaborate with other designers to craft and expand our design systems, user research repository and design methods

  • Document product designs for a effective and clear handover to developers

The perks of working with us:

  • We're a young social enterprise with a strong mission and a great team spirit.
  • We value impact, authenticity, collaboration and exploration.
  • We foster a fast-paced, but fun and safe environment.
  • Your work generates impact through products that make the world more circular

Requirements

Who you are

You’ve spent about 3 years working in tech through agencies, in-house, or freelancing. You enjoy unraveling user needs via interviews, translating complex problems into effective solutions and validating them with the target group. You get excited by the prospect of working in an environment with frequent user testing and loads of unique design challenges that go beyond the usual and obvious design patterns. You’re fluent in English and are familiar with the tools of the trade: Figma, Dovetail, Confluence, Jira.

Some qualities we need to see in you:

  • You understand the bigger picture and where the product is heading, while focussing on the details.

  • You aren’t happy until you can validate your design with users and you understand how it is valued by them.

  • You are meticulous, you don't just design for the happy flow. You love to figure out all the paths a user might take and every state a feature can be in.

  • You have an eye for aesthetics, you care about delivering a pleasing experience as well as a usable one.

  • You are eager to share your ideas, thoughts and first sketches in an early stage to keep the team up to speed, and understand the value in that.

  • You have effective communication skills and like giving constructive feedback.

  • You’re a strong team player, and are able to work autonomously.

  • You know what’s going on in the design industry, you’re eager to learn new things and you know how to work with design tools like Figma.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience designing in scrum sprints

  • Turning data into visualisation
